Hunson Abadeer

Hunson is Marceline's biological father. They have had a consistently strained relationship since Marceline's childhood, culminating in him eating her fries when she was a pre-teen, whereafter Marceline felt that he didn't care nigh her. Hunson would eventually be imprisoned in the Nightosphere and Marceline wouldn't talk to him until the events of "It Came from the Nightosphere", which occurred presumably many hundreds of years later the incident with the fries.

Marceline is embarrassed when Hunson hears her vocal

Their relationship begins to heal when Finn plays Marceline's heartfelt "Fry Song" out loud. Hunson and his daughter have a tender moment where they assert their honey for each other earlier Finn traps him back in the Nightosphere.

In "Daddy's Little Monster", Marceline asks Finn and Jake if they want to party in the Nightosphere. Finn is reluctant because he still thinks her father is evil, but she assures that he is "cool," perhaps meaning that they are on better terms. Later in the episode after Finn and Jake costless Marceline from the Nightosphere amulet'due south control, she is shocked that her dad fooled her into wearing it; he had told her that it would grant her wishes, rather than forcing her to be the demonic ruler of the eponymous realm. Marceline'south father confessed that he only wanted to be very proud of her, and Marceline told him that she wanted him to be proud of who she wants to be. He says he is proud of her, and smiles, so they may have worked out their issues.

Yet, their relationship remains complex. In the full version of Marceline'southward fry song, in that location exist the lyrics; "Daddy, why did you exit me, Yous created me, Then don't you wanna see me?". At some signal in the past, Hunson was separated from Marceline for a considerable menstruum of time in the backwash of the Mushroom State of war, during which she was cared for by Simon Petrikov before he was fully transformed into the Water ice King. In "I Remember You", in a flashback, a young Marceline is seen saying "Daddy? Daddy where are you lot?!" indicating that, for some reason, her father wasn't with her after the apocalypse. These details have even so to be explained.

In "Everything Stays", Simon, who has almost transformed into the Water ice Male monarch permanently and is thus leaving to isolate himself, assures a young Marceline that he has bundled for someone else to have care of her. In "Marcy & Hunson," this person is revealed to be Hunson. He and then announces that he was summoned by "someone with glasses" and that he and Marceline should "go suck some souls together", earlier destroying an entire wall of the hut. Marceline is shocked and repelled by Hunson'due south reckless obliviousness to her struggle for survival in the post-Mushroom War earth. This flashback sheds light on Marceline's deeply injure reaction to his act of eating her fries in his debut episode many seasons prior; the pre-teen Marceline was not yet a vampire and needed to eat, whereas the deathless demon Hunson has no need to. However, he carelessly ate her fries when she needed any food she could get to stay alive in the post-apocalyptic world. This incident appears to embody Marceline's long-held grievance that Hunson didn't care near her survival.

Elise

In "Everything Stays", Marceline and her man mother are seen together in a cursory pre-Mushroom War flashback. They appeared to take had a very stiff bond with ane some other, and Marceline's mother is seen comforting a immature Marceline, who is frightened of her weird dreams, with a song called "Everything Stays", which they sing together.

In "Ketchup", Marceline is emotional at seeing long-lost photos of her as a kid with her mother on the embankment.

In the Afar Lands episode "Obsidian", she is seen with a young Marceline struggling to survive in the post-apocalyptic earth. Though their relationship remained every bit loving prior to the apocalypse, the apocalypse revealed some flaws; Elise was unwilling to share harsh realities with her daughter. Something during the postal service-apocalyptic time, Elise fell gravely ill, and hid her affliction from Marceline. She would later succumb to her illness, and tried to shield Marceline from her death past convincing her to leave her behind and notice the location of a prophylactic shelter without her. Her death would finish up plaguing Marceline with centuries of grief, as Marceline falsely believed that Elise had abandoned her because Elise had been afraid of her demonic nature, which she had exposed by slaying a mutated dog by sucking their soul.

Centuries after her expiry, Marceline somewhen returned to the shelter that Elise had directed her to, discovering an ancient voicemail left for her by Elise. In the voicemail, Elise apologized for lying to Marceline in order to get her to go to the shelter, and assured Marceline that she was brave, loved, and had a skilful heart. She ended the voicemail past asking that Marceline forgive her for lying. The revelation left Marceline deeply emotional, helping her recover from the overwhelming grief of losing Elise.

Friends

Schwabl

Marceline's Zombie poodle, Schwabl

Marceline has a pet zombie poodle named Schwabl. Schwabl was seen briefly in her house in the episode "It Came from the Nightosphere" lying in the living room when Finn and Marceline were doing a song. It stood up and walked to another room once Finn started beat-boxing. Pendleton Ward has confirmed that Schwabl was based on his friend Marie'south dog Schwabl.[1] Schwabl was a white male poodle that had recently passed away, and is seen on the bear witness every bit Marceline's dog that roams effectually her firm. In "Marceline's Closet", there is a doggy door in the front that Jake uses to get into Marceline's firm while Finn and Jake were playing Cloud Hunt. Schwabl is also a main character in almost all of Marceline'south flashbacks likewise as "Marcy's Super Secret Scrapbook" and the "Adventure Time: 2015 Spoooktacular".

Ice King/Simon Petrikov

Marceline and the Ice King hugging

Marceline and the Water ice Male monarch shared a father-daughter human relationship during the backwash of the Mushroom War when he was nonetheless Simon Petrikov, and he was the one who originally gave her Hambo. Marceline remembers her by connexion with Simon, but the Ice King doesn't. Though Marceline discourages the Ice King from constantly coming to her house, she does not immediately force him out even when Finn and Jake get in to take him away. Before the crown wiped his memory, he cared for Marceline and wrote her a note about their friendship while apologizing for leaving her and explaining why he had to, which she eventually reads. She finally admits to liking the Water ice Rex, simply only as a father-figure, as she stopped the Water ice Rex from kissing her when he mistakes information technology for flirting and says she doesn't similar him "that way." She is also visibly distraught when she realizes that he doesn't retrieve the meaning of the messages he left for her from before his transformation. She doesn't fully sympathize the consequences of the ice crown, and doesn't know how she tin can assist or relieve him. They are seen together by Finn and Jake when they plough the messages into a song, every bit Marceline sheds tears while singing with her old guardian.

In the Farmworld universe, Simon stops the Lich's existence by using his powers to stop the mushroom bomb from hitting Earth, but is killed in the procedure. Distraught past this act of bravery, Marceline protects his dead torso for the side by side thousand years, fifty-fifty avoiding becoming a vampire merely to protect him and, more importantly, his crown.

In "Simon & Marcy", she is shown to have deep feelings for the Ice King. She says she loves him, and invites him to play basketball game with Finn and Jake. She is shown to accept a stiff emotional bond towards him, thinking of him every bit a begetter, and being worried about his well-being and sanity. She also reveals to Finn and Jake her history with him, significant that she is not ashamed to have an amalgamation with the Water ice King.

In "Betty", Marceline faints when Simon informs her of his return. She sacrifices Hambo just so he tin revisit his lost love for a short time to tell her he loves her.

In "The Empress Eyes", Marceline tries to protect the Ice Rex from The Empress, a Vampire who had hypnotized Simon and turned him into her thrall sometime before he completely succumbed to the water ice crown. Marceline as well reveals that Simon was the main reason she began hunting Vampires, and it is suggested that she fought The Empress in the past in gild to free Simon from her control. She is forced to subdue the Water ice King when he attacks her and Finn under The Empress' orders, and forces him to freeze The Empress. However, the Ice Male monarch shields The Empress, preventing Marceline from finishing her off. Despite previously following The Empress' orders and protecting her, the Ice Male monarch refuses to kill Marceline when The Empress commands him to. and it is revealed that the Ice King is actually immune to her hypnosis due to his mental state and was simply following The Empress' orders because of his infatuation with her. Marceline eventually kills The Empress with the help of Princess Bubblegum.

In "Take Her Back", while suffering from the effects of the scorpion envenomation she received from her battle with The Hierophant, Marceline has a dream where a slightly older version of herself visits Simon who is living happily with Betty.

In "The Night Deject", the Ice Rex unintentionally helps Marceline regain her will to fight and defeat the Nighttime Cloud Monster created by the Vampire Male monarch'southward pure vampire essence.

In "Come Along With Me", Marceline comforts Simon for his loss of Betty.  Afterward, Simon is seen making popcorn in her house for Marceline and Princess Bubblegum, suggesting their original friendship was restored along with the render of Simon's sanity.

Finn

S1e12 Marceline kissing Finn.png

Though they were initially enemies, Finn and Marceline shortly befriend ane another. Even when Marceline acts every bit a peachy in her debut episode, "Evicted!", she is impressed past Finn's brave assailment and disobedience and chooses to kiss him on the cheek after they fight. Both Marceline and Finn share the same spark for adventure and love of danger and excitement. Marceline is very good friends with Finn, who she seems to trust and is very comfortable existence effectually.

One of the reasons Finn and Marceline befriend each other is that Finn saved Marceline'due south life in "Henchman" when Jake exposed her to the sunlight and threw garlic at her in a misguided attempt to help Finn. Although they were friends, Marceline still seemed to care most her Ax bass more him, every bit seen in "It Came from the Nightosphere." In "Go With Me", Marceline makes it clear she does not desire to engagement Finn, only Finn explains that he didn't want to date her either. They go to the movies together, simply only every bit friends. More recently, Marceline has expressed that she does indeed care for Finn's well being. This is exemplified in "Rut Signature", where she becomes more protective of Finn when her ghost friends take pranking him and Jake too far on what started as a harmless "vampire initiation."

It is revealed in "Marceline'due south Closet" that Marceline nonetheless hides out in Finn and Jake's Tree Fort from time to time. In the same episode, Finn sees Marceline naked as she is nigh to accept a shower, resulting in Finn being very flustered. Likewise, in the episode, Marceline forgives them for sneaking into her house even though she says not to.

In the episode "Daddy'due south Piddling Monster", Marceline'due south father states that he thinks that her friends, meaning Finn and Jake, are OK. After hearing this, she jests to Finn that she doesn't desire to hang out with him anymore.

In "Bad Fiddling Male child", Marceline tells a story centered on the interaction between her male-counterpart, Marshall Lee, and Finn's female-analogue, Fionna. It is possible that she based the story on her own interaction with Finn. Even though Marceline claimed she only likes Finn as a friend, Marshall Lee seemed to think Fionna liked him more than that. It is also possible that Marceline wrote it as a dear story only to please the other princesses, but the former statement could hint at Marceline'south feelings for Finn.

"Simon & Marcy" marks the outset fourth dimension since "Daddy's Lilliputian Monster" that Marceline has hung out with Finn (not including "I Remember You lot").  She shows that they notwithstanding have the same friendship they did in previous seasons, backing up that she was only jesting virtually not wanting to hang out anymore.

In the mini-series, "Islands", Marceline shows up to wish Finn and Jake good day before they commence on their trip, and states that she and Bubblegum care for him.

Jake

Marceline scaring Jake in her wolf form

As an avid trickster, Marceline cannot resist scaring Jake whenever they meet. As he has a completely rational fear of vampires, Marceline frequently teases Jake and intentionally horrifies him when the chance is given. This perpetual bullying comes back to haunt Marceline, however, when Jake refuses to believe in her generally wholesome ways and nearly fatally wounds her in "Henchman."

In "It Came From the Nightosphere", Jake hides in Finn's pocket throughout the episode, implying that he is nonetheless afraid of her. Later in the season notwithstanding, Jake gets over his fright, and he is often seen hanging out with Finn and Marceline as friends. He afterwards considers himself a friend though, every bit evidenced in "Memory of a Memory". In the beginning of the episode, Rag Wizard informs Finn and Jake that Marceline is the 1 in trouble, and Jake begins to run faster. Later, when they run into the immature Marceline and she asks who they are, Finn says "We're Finn and Jake!", and Jake says "Nosotros're your friends." Also, in "Go With Me", he called her "babe." It is of annotation, nevertheless, that Jake still holds some level of fearfulness for Marceline, as seen in "Marceline'southward Closet", where he was noticeably scared of what she would do to him and Finn if she found out that they had broken into her house and hid in her cupboard.

In Season 5, they still seem to be friends.  For case, in "Time Sandwich" when Jake had lost his sandwich to Magic Homo, Marceline tells Jake, "Don't exist lamentable."  In "Ruby Starved" however, Marceline was deprived of anything cherry when they were trapped in a cave.  She repeatedly mentioned, or tried, drinking Jake'south claret, and later Jake tried to eat Marceline before she could eat him.  At the end of the episode though, they appeared to be on proficient terms as they were before and have been since.

Princess Bubblegum (Girlfriend)

Marceline and Princess Bubblegum arguing in "What was Missing"

According to the original serial pitch document, Marceline and Princess Bubblegum were intended to accept a "friendly rivalry."

The ii are shown to be able to disharmonism easily, every bit seen in "What Was Missing", when Marceline sings "I'g Just Your Trouble" to Princess Bubblegum, and spits on her jacket in the midst of a heated statement. In the same episode, it is revealed that Princess Bubblegum's stolen item is a t-shirt that Marceline gave to her some time agone. Bubblegum says that the shirt means a lot to her and she reveals that she sleeps in it. It is then revealed that Marceline herself had not even had an item stolen from her, merely had been there solely for the company of those present.

On August seventh, 2014, at a Barnes & Noble volume signing for Martin Olson'due south book, The Take a chance Time Encyclopædia, Olivia Olson confirmed that Marceline and Princess Bubblegum had dated; which can explain their rivalry and why they had trouble getting along with the other in the past. Since the show airs in some countries where same-sexual activity relationships are illegal, Marceline and Princess Bubblegum'due south human relationship cannot be depicted on the TV series. Olivia stated that their relationship may exist mentioned in the upcoming book, but had no further statements regarding the two. However, a since-deleted tweet by Olson following the panel suggests that she may have been joking.

The tweet

The no-longer existing tweet had stated, "I like to make things upwardly at panels. Ya'll [sic] take my stories way too seriously..." suggesting she made up the story. The tweet was removed soon later on being posted for reasons unknown.

From Rebecca Carbohydrate's AMA on reddit

When asked by a fan "whatever comments about Marceline and Bubblegum's, [sic] and their shared history?" to which she replied, "doesn't seem that recent to me!" suggesting that fans had been right virtually their backstory since long before the supposed confirmation of their relationship as friends, not every bit former lovers.

Hynden'due south point about Bubbline.

In August 2014, Hynden Walch, voice actor of Princess Bubblegum, confirmed on Tumblr that they used to be best friends. However, Princess Bubblegum "matured" (meaning that Bubblegum was being likewise much of a princess which made her afar with Marceline) besides fast for Marceline's liking, splitting autonomously their friendship. This explains their rivalry, along with why Princess Bubblegum has trusting issues, and also why Marceline knows Lead's kickoff proper noun, Bonnibel.

Princess Bubblegum and Marceline'due south friendship is further explored in the comic Chance Fourth dimension: Marceline and the Scream Queens, in which Bubblegum becomes the manager of Marceline'south band. Withal, the events expressed here may or may not be canon.

Marceline and Princess Bubblegum flying out of Maja's home

In "Sky Witch", Princess Bubblegum is shown sleeping in the shirt from "What Was Missing", before waking and smelling it deeply. It is also shown that she has a picture of them in her closet, further indicating that she harbors sentimental feelings for Marceline. Later in the episode, Marceline flies into Princess Bubblegum's castle to ask her to help her discover the eponymous sky witch, Maja. The Princess agrees to go with Marceline, who and so flies her chop-chop out of the window and the Candy Kingdom. Bubblegum refers to Marceline equally a "friend" when trying to get her to relax and laissez passer through Maja's barriers. Although initially bemused when learning that Marceline has taken her to retrieve Hambo, the Princess softens as she realizes how important the teddy comport is to Marceline. Upon discovering that Maja is willing to fight to keep Hambo, Bubblegum barters for Marceline's nearly dear treasure by offering her most beloved treasure: the shirt Marceline gave her, which is stated by Maja the Sky Witch to have more "sentimental freshness" and "psychic resonance" than Hambo. Bubblegum gives Marceline Hambo and the two are shown flight away, Bubblegum clinging to her back. Information technology was revealed in "Time Sandwich" that the two were on practiced terms with each other, as the two did not fence or show whatsoever discomfort around each other.

In "Blood-red Starved", Marceline bites Bubblegum and drains her in her hunger, concluding that what she had sang in "I'm Just Your Problem" is true. This did non interruption the 2 up, as shown in "Princess Twenty-four hours", where both were texting each other on their phones. Marceline had invited Bubblegum to ditch the upshot, but the invitation is rejected as she wants to finish a crossword puzzle.

In the episode "Varmints", Marceline is trying to notice Princess Bubblegum so they tin get to the Squeez-E-Mart together. She is surprised to find that the King of Ooo is in Bubblegum's bed and that Bubblegum has been exiled from the Candy Kingdom. When she finds Bubblegum, Marceline is upset that she was uninformed well-nigh the exile. This suggests that Marceline cares deeply about Bubblegum and expects to be kept upward-to-engagement on Bubblegum'due south life.

Bubblegum sleeping on Marceline's shoulder

Later in the episode, Marceline and Bubblegum chase some varmints down into the Rock Candy Mines. Marceline states that she and Bubblegum often hung out down in the mines, before Bonnie got likewise busy being the Princess of the Processed Kingdom. They somewhen come upon a graffiti tag Marceline made Bubblegum write when they used to hang out in the mines.

When they are back in the Princess' cabin, Bubblegum confides that she has been "crazy tired" for a long fourth dimension, but Bubblegum still insists that she must watch for more varmints. Marceline tells PB to worry nearly the varmints tomorrow, and that she will look out for them throughout the nighttime. Bubblegum agrees to rest, merely only if Marceline promises to wake her up in 15 minutes. Marceline promises. The episode ends with Bubblegum resting her head on Marceline'southward shoulder. This episode shows that Marceline and Princess Bubblegum have a long and complex relationship. The terminate of the episode shows that their human relationship has become very trusting and caring, as Bubblegum trust Marceline to wake her.

Her dream suggests that she does not want to grow old because Princess Bubblegum will not be aging with her.

Towards the end of the episode Princess Bubblegum invites Marceline to live in her castle. Marceline turns downwards the invitation.

In "Seventeen", Marceline and Bubblegum are shown holding hands as they approach Finn afterwards he was defeated by Fern. This brusque scene was highlighted by Cartoon Network in an Instagram mail on December 7th, 2017 which advertised the release of "Seventeen", "Ring of Fire", "Marcy & Hunson" and "The Showtime Investigation" on the Cartoon Network app.

In "Marcy & Hunson", Hunson Abadeer asks Finn, "So what'southward my little monster upwards to these days? Is she still all goody-goody? Nonetheless half vampire? Started dating anyone?". Finn replies, "Yes. Yeah, but no, and so yes again. And maybe?". Finn's response to Hudson suggests that Marceline may be romantically involved with someone. Maybe Finn's confusion is a upshot of seeing Marceline and Princess Bubblegum holding easily in "Seventeen". After in the episode, Marceline sings the vocal "Tedious Trip the light fantastic With You". The lyrics, "I know all the other boys are tough and smoothen, and I've got the blues. I wanna boring dance with you," tin can exist interpreted every bit Marceline longing to trip the light fantastic toe with someone who has many male suitors such as Princess Bubblegum. The song could besides exist interpreted to be a cover of a song written by someone else, thus when Marceline says "I" she is non actually referring to herself.

Marceline and Bonnibel'south kiss romantically, rekindling their love for each other.

Marcy and Bonnie together at last.

But finally in the serial finale, "Come Along With Me ", Marceline sees Bonnibel get crushed by an enemy. Enraged, she attacks it and manages to hold information technology off.
